India’s dream to host the Formula One Grand Prix can only materialize by 2011, but preparations for the same are going at great pace. The racing track which should be ready by next year is coming up at Jaypee Group Circuit in Greater Noida which is 50 km from Delhi.
The India -New Delhi circuit will be roughly 5.5 kilometers (3.1 miles) and is designed by F1 circuit designer Hermann Tilke. The 10-year contract for the race has been given to the Indian construction company Jaiprakash Associates.
However, the F1 even had gone through its share of problems. Bernie Ecclestone confirmed the race had been moved back to 2011.The race was originally slated for the 2010 F1 calendar.
Furthermore, In August, it was reported that the Indian government refused promoter JPSK’s request for US$36.5m to be paid to Formula One Administration. Organizers are pressing ahead with plans to bring Formula One to India despite the government declining to give financial support But JPSK managing director Sameer Gaur said on Sunday that “there will be no problem whatsoever” with the delivery of an inaugural Indian Grand Prix in 2011.

WATG London designs the master plan.
